Charlotte High School Band Programs
Silver King Marching Band is our most visible performing group. The core goals of the Silver King Marching Band are to provide musically enriching experiences for the members, attain a superior level of performance, serve and support the football program at Charlotte High School through performances at football events, serve and support the greater Tarpon community through performances at pep rallies, homecoming events and etc, and to serve and support the community through a number of parades and events in which we participate both as the Silver King Marching Band and in joint performance with the Punta Gorda Middle School Bands.
All first year band students are expected to participate in Marching Band. Marching Band is part of the curriculum for Band and attendence at rehearsals, performances, and events will count towards students grades.
Symphonic Band is our premiere performance organization and is comprised of students enrolled in Band I - IV. This ensemble performs at various concerts and festivals throughout the year. Members are expected to attend all rehearsals and performances.
Jazz Ensemble membership is attained through auditions that occur near the end of each school year (watch website and calendars for dates and times.) Each year the jazz ensemble will perform at a Jazz Festival to prep for MPA, the FBA Solo and Ensemble MPA as well as serving and supporting the community through a number of perfromances including the Punta Gorda Block Party.
Eurhythmics I-IV is a co-curricular Guard class, students are required to participate in the Marching Band Auxiliary during 1st semester and Indoor Guard during the 2nd semester. Entry is by audition that occurs near the end of each school year (watch website and calendars for dates and times.) You must be in the class to be on the team, you must be on the team to pass the class, also note that Guard is a full year commitment.
